My Favorite Drinking Cup – Hydro Flask True Pint

When you want a cold drink, whether its lemonade, ice tea, soda or a beer, do you find yourself reaching for the same cup all the time? We discovered completely by mistake our favorite cup is one that was a gift from a vendor. Normally at Christmas time, your vendors will send out little gifts. Normally you get something like a calendar or planner, but this vendor went at it right and bought their best customers these cups.

Hint: to vendors, something like this get used much more than calendars and note pads…

Hydro Flask True Pint

Let’s cut to the chase, the Hydro Flask 16 oz True Pint Cup for Beer or Cider | Stainless Steel & Vacuum Insulated | Stackable & Shatterproof | Graphite is my favorite cup to drink out of. Now, I also own several Hydroflask containers I am supposed to use at the gym, but to be honest, I don’t use and them and don’t like them. They are big, heavy and unwieldy.  This though, is a whole different story. This powder coated beauty comes in close to a dozen colors so if you want simple black or if you want a variety of colors you can go for it.

But why do we like it? Simple, it keeps things cold for a long time. You can put ice cubes in it and come back an hour later, and those ice cubes will be at best, half way melted. In fact I have put it in the sink and come back a couple hours later, and the ice has not melted yet. This thing just keeps beverages cold. For sodas, ice tea and lemonade, having ice that doesn’t melt and dilute your drink is a nice feature.

This is a bigger deal when it comes to your favorite beer. No one wants to put ice in their beer and if you are like me, on a nice hot summer day, an ice cold brew just hits the spot. A lot of thought was put into the design for beer drinkers. Apparently it was designed to replicate beer glasses and the experience of drinking out of those. From the shape that allows the beer to fall on your tongue, just so, to the beveled  lip so it doesn’t feel like you are sipping from a chunk of metal, a lot of thought went into this.

Does your significant other always tell you to put a coaster under your cup? No need to worry because this cup does not sweat like other cups you use. It doesn’t leave rings so if you forget your coaster, no one will get mad at you.

You can put hot or cold beverages in it but to be honest, I have only used it for cold beverages, I still prefer my coffee out of a ceramic cup. What don’t you get with the Hydro Flask True Pint

You don’t get a lid. These glasses don’t come with lids and the regular Hydroflask lids don’t work with it either. I have heard that some people will use a coffee shop lid to keep things from spilling but I never use it for traveling. These are not designed (in my opinion) to be used on the go but to be used at home as a replacement for your every day cups and glasses.

Special Handling

The only thing I have to warn people about with HydroFlask is some of the things you can’t or shouldn’t do with it. You shouldn’t put it in the dishwasher. For me this is not a big deal since they are super easy to clean and I just do it when I clean my knives (which also shouldn’t go in the dishwasher). Don’t put it in the freezer either. This is not like a frosted glass, it will keep your drink cold on its own. Finally, if you dent it, you can lose the insulating properties so protecting the outside is key.

Why I recommend it.

With all the cups and glasses I have in my cupboards, I keep coming back to this one. Even to the point I will take the time to wash and dry this cup before I pull out a different cup. That is how much I like it. It is not the cheapest cup you will buy but I never have an issue spending money on something I use every day. Highly recommended!
